Malaysian Politics And Me
Posted on March 7th, 2008 in Noise, malaysia, politics, promises
Everywhere I look, all I see are promises. Made by people who I don’t even know. They promised me this and that. They even promised me the world!
Impressive.
But, the thing is, why all these promises? How did they know that these are what the people want? Do they even know for sure that these are what we want?
I don’t know any avenue where I could just go and ask for things from these people. And never once they come to me and personally ask what I would like to see in the next few years?
Maybe, I don’t want the oil price to drop. If the fuel is expensive, there’ll be less mat rempit around.
Oit man, lets merempit tonight!
Sorry mate, don’t have to money to refuel my tank.
(Yes, they can converse in English)
Heck., maybe I do want a price hike. There’ll be less people driving, less poisoned gas released to the environment. See, all you think about is cheaper fuel, but you don’t think about the consequences to the world around you, the actual price you got to pay. Specifically to the air we breathe. Why? Because air is free right? Who cares when it’s free? Now, when there’s a price a hike, people will be really looking into the implementation of hybrid car. Use less fuel or none at all.
Maybe I don’t want a welfare country. Welfare synonym with beggars. They beg everyday but their life circumstances still the same. They still beg. Plus, there is saying – easy come easy go. You’ll take free things for granted.
Maybe I don’t want a free education. When I don’t have to pay for the school, I’ve lost my bargaining power.
We shouldn’t teach these kids to just memorize, maybe we should teach them to think
Go whining somewhere else. You don’t pay us, and we do this for free. Be grateful.
When the administration or teacher not motivated by money, there’ll be lacked of quality, simply because there’s no motivation. I’m pretty sure they won’t be motivated by their student’s result
Even if the whole class pass with flying colors. I’m not getting richer.
Maybe I want an education system that teaches us to think instead of memorizing things
Maybe I don’t even care about PTPTN, what’s PTPTN?
Maybe I don’t want development. When KLIA was being developed, big lorries passed through every day. They brought dust and smoke. You can’t even stay out of house longer than 1 minute, you’ll breath red dust. And there’s no more interesting forest area left to explore. Everywhere I look, all I see is low cost housing.
And maybe like me, the Kelantanese don’t want development. If Kelantan has been developed, Siamese will flock into the city. The population will be high. It’s hard to police high density area. With development, you got to trade morality.
Maybe I want somebody on the moon every five years. It gives hope to kids. Going to the moon is not a lousy dream anymore.
Maybe I want Mat Jenin story to be forgotten. The story teaches us to stop dreaming, and just work with the current flow as being followed by the older generation. See, because of Mat Jenin story, we all being motivated by money, not dream.
Maybe all I want is a cheap broadband and higher bandwidth.
Maybe I want the government to be more open-minded and adventurous, willing to try new technology. Stop hiding behind our “peer consultation method”, where we want to learn from other countries first, and then “do it right the first time”.
If we make a mistake, the whole world will know.
Maybe I don’t want to be emotionally protected anymore. It turns me to become a coward. Just show me truth and let me handle it.
Maybe I don’t want you to feed me anymore. Let me grow and learn from my mistake.
Maybe I still want the bumpy road. So all supercar wannabe can’t speed up like crazy madman.
So tell me, how can I vote for you when you don’t even fight for the things I wanted?
How can I trust you when you don’t even make an effort to learn from me and ask nicely – what do you want?
